The Deets
I don’t write or post about my pups very often, simply because the dog social media/blog world is so saturated. But, for this post, I’m making an exception.
Let me set the scene: I have two dogs, Sierra and Maisy.
Sierra is an 11 year old heeler/beagle mix (the black one) who I’ve had since she was 6 months old. Maisy is a 7 year old standard poodle who I’ve only had about 2 years. As a 20 something year old professional without kids, you bet I spoil these two girls.
So let’s talk about dog subscription boxes. Our dogs deserve all the nice things, but let’s face it, some of the items in these boxes are just average and cliche. What do most dog boxes offer? Toys and treats…. Toys that that they already have an abundance of, and treats that they don’t get a ton of because I would get some judgmental comment from the vet during Sierra’s weigh in.
So what’s a dog parent supposed to do? I want to spoil my girls but I don’t want just an average subscription box. Well, in walks SpaDog right to my email inbox. From the makers of SaddleBox, I was excited to see how they would put their own adorable spin on dog subscription boxes.

When I received the box, I was immediately impressed with the presentation. Inside the outer cardboard box was a beautiful rose gold box tied closed with a ribbon. Upon opening the silky box, I was greeted with a crisp white envelope that contained an invitation-like welcome card. This thing was nicer than some wedding invitations that I have received. With an intricate paper lace outside opening to a lovely card, I immediately felt like a peasant presenting an invitation to my dogs as if we were living the Bridgerton lifestyle and were just invited to the social event of the year.
Under the card was lovely printed tissue paper and as I lifted the paper, I was overwhelmed by the amount of items perfectly packed. The presentation was phenomenal, making me feel subpar in my own wrapping skills…
In the box, the girls received only 1 toy (thank goodness), a massage brush, the softest grooming towel, a pumice stone for their paws and nails, dog safe pure shea butter for their noses and paws, all natural dog food supplements (basil and thyme), a pendent for them to wear on their collars, dog safe carob chips, a turducken chew, and a gold spoon (like, literally a beautiful metal spoon) that I believe is for the carob chips or shea butter.

Sierra was a big fan of the massage brush. While Maisy happily chewed on the turducken chew, Sierra got her paws pumiced followed by the shea butter. She certainly enjoyed it, laying down with one paw willingly and tenderly given to me, and looking at me down her nose as if to say, “I’ll be checking your manicure skills when you’re done”. Her paws were so soft after and she seemed quite pleased with the pampering. The cute pendent had some bohemian vibes, with a crescent moon on one side and an evil eye on the other side. For those that don’t know, an evil eye is worn to keep bad vibes away. Due to Maisy’s anxiety, I figured she could use some evil eye help so she was given the pendent to wear and it looked lovely on her. They were each given carob chips on their super fancy spoon and I’m sure they now expect to be fed via gold silverware everyday.

SpaDog offers one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had with a dog subscription box (or any subscription box). They nailed the presentation of the box and items, making the girls and I feel very bougie. The items were extremely thoughtful and adorable. Do some of the things seem a little ridiculous? Yes, but that’s part of the charm and delight. Sometimes it’s nice to feel a little extravagant and ridiculous, like that feeling of splurging on Starbucks while shopping at Target. So the next time you’re getting a pedicure, think of how lovely it’d be to give your dog the same type of pampering in the comfort of their own home. It’s cheaper than a groomer and I can assure you, most groomers do not pumice and moisturize dog paws.
Need to give a unique gift to a devoted dog parent? This is your answer. Want to just feel extravagant with your pup? This is it. But quite honestly, do we really need an excuse to pamper our pups? With all the pure love that they give us, they deserve some spa treatments and SpaDog does just that. Check them out on their website at www.spadogbox.com .
